Telephony

There's a revolution going on in telephony at the moment. You may have heard of "Voice over IP", or VoIP. Instead of using traditional telephone lines, VoIP uses the internet to carry your conversations. It's cheap and highly functional, bringing “big switch” phone system facilities to small and medium businesses for the first time. However, because the technology is so new and unfortunately, massively jargon-ridden, it can be difficult to understand how it fits with your existing conventional telephone lines and numbers.

SARK Platform

High Performance

SARK UCS is very small and very fast, yet highly functional. The entire SARK package (excluding Asterisk and the OS) is less than 1.5Mb in size. Unlike almost every other Asterisk workbench, SARK UCS generates NO complex and slow-running logic constructs into the Asterisk extensions.conf file. Instead, it uses its own high speed logic and rules engine (the HSLE). Less than 70K in size, the HSLE handles all of SARK's runtime switching decisions and it is optimized to use very short, direct instruction paths further enhancing its overall speed of execution. Furthermore, at runtime, SARK uses no cumbersome, slow-running interpreters such as PHP or Perl in the mainline.

High Availability

SARK UCS has fully integrated High Availability Cluster support on-board. Failover is entirely automatic, takes just a few seconds and requires no reprogramming or restart of either the phones, the VoIP accounts, ISDN lines or gateways. SARK HA Clustering provides bullet-proof availability for mission critical telephony deployments such as call-centres and distributed deployments. Cluster members can be taken off-line for hardware or software maintenance/upgrade, without disrupting service.

Sophisticated Remote Management

SARK UCS has been developed from the ground up with the needs of the reseller in mind. As a result it has the most advanced remote management, configuration and diagnostic capabilities of any product in its class. Tools like extensible provisioning, the unique SIP terminal dynamic proxy and log-in functionality, automatic recognition and adoption of new SIP devices and a host of other advanced tools significantly ease on-going adds, moves, changes and problem management in mid to large scale environments.
